In a significant administrative move amid rising political tensions in West Bengal, Baruipur Police Station IC Samar De and Sub-Inspector Sukumar Ruidas have been suspended over allegations of assaulting BJP candidate Biswajit Pal during the recent Assembly election period. The action has intensified political debate over police conduct and law-and-order issues in the state.
According to official sources, the suspension came after serious allegations surfaced claiming that BJP candidate Biswajit Pal, who contested from the Baruipur West Assembly constituency, was physically assaulted during an incident involving police personnel. The matter reportedly drew the attention of senior administrative authorities, leading to immediate disciplinary action against the two officers.

While detailed findings of the internal inquiry have not yet been made public, sources indicated that the allegations were considered serious enough to warrant suspension pending further investigation. The administration is expected to conduct a more detailed probe into the circumstances surrounding the incident.
The development has sparked sharp political reactions, with BJP leaders accusing sections of the police force of acting in a partisan manner during and after the elections. The saffron camp has repeatedly alleged that opposition workers and candidates faced intimidation in several parts of the state.
Trinamool Congress leaders, however, have maintained that the government is taking action wherever complaints are found credible and that disciplinary measures against police officials demonstrate accountability within the administration.

The suspension of a police station IC and a sub-inspector in a politically sensitive case has once again brought focus onto the role of law enforcement agencies in Bengal’s volatile political environment. Political observers believe the incident could further fuel the ongoing confrontation between the BJP and the ruling establishment over allegations of political violence and administrative bias.
