West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Wednesday declared that the BJP government would fulfil its entire Sankalpa Patra within one year, while making it clear that North Bengal would receive top priority in the state’s development roadmap. During his first North Bengal visit after taking oath as Chief Minister, Adhikari used Siliguri as the platform to send a strong political and administrative message.
Ahead of a key administrative meeting at Uttarkanya, the Chief Minister met BJP workers and leaders at the party office in Siliguri, where he outlined his government’s timeline for implementing poll promises.

Addressing party workers, Adhikari said the BJP government had already begun delivering on some of its commitments and more benefits would start reaching people from June onward.
“We will implement everything mentioned in our Sankalpa Patra within a fixed timeframe. People have already seen some results, and over the next three months, six months and one year, every promise made to the people will be fulfilled,” the Chief Minister said.

Highlighting North Bengal’s political importance, Adhikari described the region as the BJP’s “stronghold” and assured that it would remain at the centre of the government’s development agenda.

“North Bengal is BJP’s foundation in Bengal politics. Naturally, development work in this government will prioritise North Bengal,” he stated.
The Chief Minister also announced that he would return to North Bengal again in July. Before that visit, he urged BJP workers across districts to compile proposals and recommendations for the state government.
According to Adhikari, district BJP presidents would collect suggestions from party workers through WhatsApp and forward them directly to him for review. He promised that proposals feasible for implementation would be acted upon quickly.

During his address, the Chief Minister also stressed that his administration would not tolerate anti-national activities and promised a broader transformation in governance across the state.
“We do not want only a change of flags, parties or individuals. We want a complete change in the system,” he said, adding that the government was already moving to dismantle “cut money culture, syndicate networks and mafia operations.”
Adhikari also targeted the previous Trinamool Congress government, accusing it of creating divisions among communities, especially in the hills of North Bengal.
The Chief Minister claimed the new BJP-led administration would work towards fulfilling public expectations through development-driven governance and administrative reforms. Political observers believe his repeated emphasis on North Bengal signals the region’s growing strategic importance under the new government.
