After Skipping 5 Summons, Ex-Minister Rathin Ghosh Finally Appears at ED Office in Recruitment Scam Probe
Former minister Rathin Ghosh appeared before the Enforcement Directorate in the recruitment scam probe after allegedly skipping five previous summons.

Former West Bengal Food Minister Rathin Ghosh finally appeared before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday morning in connection with the ongoing recruitment corruption investigation, after reportedly avoiding summons on five previous occasions. His appearance at the ED’s Salt Lake office has intensified political speculation, especially coming just days after the arrest of former minister Sujit Bose in a related probe.

Rathin Ghosh arrived at the CGO Complex in Salt Lake around 10 AM amid heightened security and growing media attention. Before entering the ED office, the former minister briefly addressed reporters and claimed he was unaware of the exact reason behind the summons.

“I do not know why they have called me. I will know once I go inside,” Rathin Ghosh said while entering the central agency’s office.

The ED is currently investigating alleged irregularities and financial transactions linked to the recruitment corruption case, which has already led to multiple high-profile interrogations and arrests in West Bengal. Rathin Ghosh’s questioning is being seen as a significant development in the widening investigation.

Political circles are closely watching the developments, particularly because the ED arrested former minister Sujit Bose only two days ago. That arrest has triggered fresh speculation over whether more senior political leaders could come under the scanner in the coming days.

Sources indicate that investigators may question Rathin Ghosh regarding alleged financial links, administrative decisions, and recruitment-related transactions during his tenure. However, ED officials have not yet released any formal statement regarding the scope of Friday’s interrogation.

The recruitment corruption case continues to dominate Bengal’s political landscape, with opposition parties demanding stricter action while the ruling camp has repeatedly accused central agencies of political targeting.

With Rathin Ghosh finally responding to the summons after multiple absences, the focus is now on whether the ED will intensify its action further in the coming days.
