Fresh from securing the top rank in Madhyamik 2026, Abhirup Bhadra is already looking ahead—dreaming of IIT and a future in software engineering. The Uttar Dinajpur student, who scored a remarkable 698 marks (99.71%), says his focus remains firmly on academics, with little interest in commenting on the state’s shifting political landscape.
A student of Sarada Vidyamandir in Raiganj, Abhirup attributes his success to disciplined study habits and consistent practice. His achievement stands out not just for the score, but for the clarity with which he approaches his goals. “Regular study and proper revision made the difference,” he said, reflecting on his preparation journey.

Behind this success story is a strong personal narrative. Abhirup was raised single-handedly by his mother, Indrani Chowdhury Bhadra, a staff nurse at Raiganj Hospital. With no siblings, he grew up in a focused environment where education was always the priority. His mother’s dedication and support played a pivotal role in shaping his academic path.
Looking forward, Abhirup has set his sights on cracking the Joint Entrance Examination and pursuing higher studies at an IIT. He aspires to become a software engineer and is preparing to intensify his efforts in the Higher Secondary stage. During his Madhyamik preparation, he was guided by nine private tutors—an indication of the rigorous routine he followed. However, he is aware that the next two years will demand even greater commitment.
Despite the ongoing political changes in West Bengal following the recent Assembly elections, Abhirup prefers to stay away from such discussions. “I don’t have enough experience to comment on politics yet, and I would rather focus on my studies,” he stated, making his priorities clear.
