Priyadarshini Mallick Removed as HS Council Secretary Amid Administrative Reshuffle in Bengal
Priyadarshini Mallick has been removed as Secretary of the Higher Secondary Council and reassigned as Assistant Professor at Ashutosh College.

In another major administrative shake-up after the change of government in West Bengal, Priyadarshini Mallick, daughter of former minister Jyotipriyo Mallick, has been removed from the post of Secretary of the West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education. The School Education Department issued an official notification on Thursday confirming the decision, further intensifying discussions around the BJP government’s ongoing overhaul of key administrative positions in the state.

Sources in the administrative circle claim that Priyadarshini Mallick had recently been advised to step down from the position voluntarily. However, she reportedly refused to resign, following which the Education Department moved ahead with her removal from the influential post.

Priyadarshini Mallick came under public attention earlier after her father, former state minister Jyotipriyo Mallick, was arrested in connection with the high-profile ration distribution corruption case. Although she was not directly linked to the investigation, her name had surfaced in political discussions during that period.

Since assuming power in the state, the BJP government has initiated widespread changes across several departments and administrative institutions. Multiple officials holding important posts under the previous administration have either been transferred, replaced, or relieved of their responsibilities as part of the restructuring process.

According to the latest notification issued by the state government, Priyadarshini Mallick has now been reassigned to her earlier academic role. She will serve as an Assistant Professor at Ashutosh College.

Interestingly, Priyadarshini was present at the Higher Secondary examination result announcement event just a day before the official order regarding her removal was issued.

So far, no public reaction or statement has been issued by Priyadarshini Mallick regarding the development.

The latest move is being viewed as part of the broader administrative recalibration currently underway in West Bengal following the political transition in the state.
