
The West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education has officially declared the Higher Secondary Examination Result 2026, bringing relief and excitement to more than six lakh students across the state. With an impressive overall pass percentage of 91.23% and results published in record time, students can now access their scores online through the council’s official result portal from 11 AM onwards.
The results were formally announced during a press conference held at the Higher Secondary Education Council office in Bidhannagar on Thursday morning. The meeting began around 10:30 AM, after which the board released detailed statistics and merit information related to this year’s examination.


According to official figures, a total of 6,35,931 students had registered for the examination, while 6,26,258 candidates finally appeared for the test. Out of them, 5,71,355 students successfully passed the examination.
East Midnapore emerged as the best-performing district this year, recording a pass percentage of 94.19%. The district also produced one of the highest numbers of successful candidates in the state.

The merit list this year features 64 students in the top ten rankings. Among them are 56 boys and 8 girls. Adrit Pal secured the first rank in the state with an outstanding score of 496 marks.

After opening the website, students will need to enter their roll number and registration number in the designated fields. Once submitted, the result will appear on the screen.


Students are advised to download and save a copy of the online marksheet for future reference. However, original marksheets and certificates will also be distributed through respective schools after 11 AM.
This year marks a significant transition in the state’s education system, as the semester system for Higher Secondary examinations was introduced for the first time in 2026. The first phase of the semester examination had begun on October 31 last year.
Interestingly, the probable merit list for the first phase had already generated attention earlier. Based on those preliminary rankings, Pritam Ballav and Adityanarayan Jana from Purulia Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith had emerged as top performers with 98.97% marks.
The board conducted examinations in 15 languages and 16 vocational subjects this year. Another notable trend was the higher participation of female students. According to official data, 66,486 more girls appeared for the examination compared to boys.
Students from a total of 6,837 schools across West Bengal participated in the Higher Secondary examination this year.
Meanwhile, the application process for Post Publication Scrutiny (PPS) and Post Publication Review (PPR) will begin after midnight on May 14. Students dissatisfied with their marks will be allowed to apply for review or re-evaluation through their schools or directly via the council’s official website.
Officials also confirmed that candidates wishing to reappear for the examination must submit their existing results through their schools before applying online for the fresh examination process.
With strong academic performances, rapid result publication and the successful rollout of the semester system, the WB HS Result 2026 has become a landmark moment for West Bengal’s education sector.
