
West Bengal’s Higher Secondary Examination results for 2026 were officially declared on Thursday, with the state education board setting a new benchmark by publishing the results just 76 days after the exams concluded. This year’s overall pass percentage stood at an impressive 91.23%, while 64 students secured positions in the top ten merit list, making the results one of the most talked-about academic milestones in the state this year.
More than 6.26 lakh students appeared for the Higher Secondary examinations across West Bengal, and the majority of candidates successfully cleared the exam. Education officials described the result publication process as one of the fastest and most efficiently managed in recent years.


East Midnapore once again emerged as the best-performing district in terms of pass percentage, recording an impressive success rate of 94.19%. Howrah secured the second position among districts, followed by North 24 Parganas in third place.
The top rank in the state was achieved by Adrit Pal, a student of Narendrapur Ramakrishna Mission, who scored 496 marks. His exceptional performance has drawn widespread praise from educators and students alike.
The second position was jointly secured by multiple candidates, including Jishnu Kundu from Purulia Ramakrishna Mission, along with three other students who delivered remarkable results this year.


According to the official merit list released by the education council, a total of 64 students featured in the top ten rankings. Among them were 8 female students and 56 male students. Kolkata also made a strong academic mark, with four students from the city securing places within the top ten merit list.
Education experts believe the results reflect consistent academic improvement across the state and highlight the growing competitiveness among students from both urban and rural districts.
Apart from East Midnapore, several other districts performed strongly this year. The list of high-performing districts includes Howrah, North 24 Parganas, Hooghly, Nadia, West Midnapore, Kolkata, Purulia and Darjeeling.


The rapid publication of results and the smooth evaluation process have already earned praise from various educational circles. Many observers believe that achieving such efficiency in the very first year of the newly introduced semester-based system sends a positive signal about the evolving academic framework in West Bengal.
Officials associated with the Higher Secondary council said the timely declaration of results would also help students complete college admission procedures without unnecessary delays, offering greater academic stability for the new session.
With strong performances across districts, record-speed result publication and a high overall pass percentage, the WB HS Result 2026 has emerged as a major moment of achievement for students, teachers and the state’s education system alike.
