West Bengal Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari on Monday made a high-profile visit to state BJP president Samik Bhattacharya’s ancestral residence in Salt Lake before both leaders travelled together to the party’s state headquarters, signaling the start of an intense day of political and administrative activity for Bengal’s newly formed BJP government. The joint appearance drew large crowds outside Bhattacharya’s residence and underscored the leadership’s attempt to project unity and organisational control immediately after assuming power in the state.
Suvendu left his Chinar Park residence in the morning and headed to the BH Block residence of Samik Bhattacharya in Salt Lake. BJP workers and supporters had gathered outside the house well before the Chief Minister’s arrival. As Suvendu stepped out of his convoy, he was welcomed with lotus garlands and loud cheers from party workers.

The newly sworn-in Chief Minister spent some time inside Bhattacharya’s residence before the two leaders left together in the same vehicle for the BJP’s state headquarters in Salt Lake. Party insiders said discussions during the meeting would focus on organisational restructuring and administrative coordination following the BJP’s historic victory in West Bengal.
Preparations had already been made at the BJP office to receive the Chief Minister. Conch shells were blown and Suvendu was greeted with ceremonial honours and traditional scarves as he arrived at the party headquarters alongside Bhattacharya.
Monday marks the first official working day of Bengal’s first BJP government after Suvendu Adhikari took oath at Brigade Parade Ground on Saturday. A packed administrative schedule awaits the Chief Minister at Nabanna, where the first cabinet meeting of the new government is scheduled for noon.

Apart from the cabinet session, Suvendu is also expected to hold a series of high-level administrative review meetings throughout the day. According to sources, he will first meet senior state bureaucrats to assess the functioning of key departments and review immediate governance priorities.
A separate meeting with district magistrates may take place later in the afternoon, followed by another crucial interaction with top police officials, including the Director General of Police, the Kolkata Police Commissioner, and senior officers from different zones across the state.
In the evening, the Chief Minister is also expected to meet BJP’s victorious MLAs at Nabanna to discuss legislative strategy and governance priorities for the coming months.

Soon after taking oath on Saturday, Suvendu had already held an initial administrative review meeting at a temporary Public Works Department camp near Dharmatala. Chief Secretary Dushmanta Nariwala, Home Secretary Sanghamitra Ghosh, and DGP Siddhanath Gupta were present at that meeting, where the Chief Minister reportedly reviewed the overall law-and-order and administrative situation in the state.
