At Brigade Rally, PM Modi Accuses TMC of Blocking Central Schemes, Says Poor in Bengal Being Denied Benefits
At the Brigade rally in Kolkata, PM Narendra Modi accused the TMC government of blocking key central schemes like PM Awas Yojana, Ayushman Bharat and Jal Jeevan Mission.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday launched a sharp attack on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) government during his address at the Brigade Parade Ground in Kolkata, accusing the state administration of deliberately blocking several central welfare schemes meant for the poor and working class in West Bengal.

Speaking at the massive BJP rally, Modi claimed that the central government has introduced multiple schemes to boost employment and improve the quality of life of ordinary citizens, but the TMC government is preventing those benefits from reaching people in the state.

Referring to the PM Vishwakarma scheme, the Prime Minister said the Centre launched the initiative to create employment opportunities and support skilled workers. However, he alleged that even though the funding comes from the central government, the state administration is obstructing its implementation in West Bengal.

Modi also accused the state government of blocking other welfare initiatives, including schemes aimed at providing free electricity and financial assistance to the poor. “The central government sends the funds, but the TMC government does not allow the benefits to reach the people,” he said.

Targeting the state over housing for the poor, Modi alleged that the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana has been altered in West Bengal, with the scheme’s name changed and beneficiary lists modified. According to him, many poor families who were supposed to receive houses under the scheme have been deprived of the benefits.

The Prime Minister also raised concerns about the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, claiming that the scheme meant to provide clean drinking water to households has been slowed down in the state.

Another major point of criticism was the Ayushman Bharat health insurance scheme, which provides medical coverage of up to ₹5 lakh per family annually. Modi alleged that the TMC government has not allowed the scheme to be implemented in West Bengal, depriving poor families of crucial healthcare support.

He also spoke about the challenges faced by farmers in the state, mentioning the plight of potato growers and referring to the reported suicide of a potato farmer. Modi said such incidents reflect the difficulties faced by the agricultural community.

In his speech, the Prime Minister further accused the TMC of engaging in “dirty politics” and claimed that the state’s governance has harmed the dignity and safety of women.

Concluding his remarks, Modi said the people of West Bengal deserve development and better opportunities, adding that a political change in the state would ensure that central schemes reach the intended beneficiaries.
