Kolkata Traffic Curbs for PM Modi’s Brigade Rally: Key Roads, Timings Announced
Traffic restrictions will be in place across central Kolkata on Saturday for PM Narendra Modi’s Brigade rally, with heavy vehicles banned and several key roads under regulation.

Kolkata is set to witness major traffic restrictions on Saturday as Prime Minister Narendra Modi visits the city to address a massive rally at Brigade Parade Ground. The Kolkata Police has issued a detailed advisory outlining road regulations, vehicle restrictions and parking bans across several parts of central Kolkata, warning commuters to expect diversions and delays throughout the day.

According to the official notification released on Thursday, heavy vehicles will be barred from entering the city between 4:00 AM and 8:00 PM, except those carrying essential supplies such as LPG cylinders, petroleum products, oxygen, vegetables, medicines, fruits, fish and milk. Authorities say the restrictions are necessary to ensure smooth traffic management and security arrangements during the Prime Minister’s visit.

The rally at Brigade Parade Ground will mark the final event of the BJP’s statewide ‘Parivartan Yatra’, which concluded across districts earlier this week. The event is expected to draw thousands of supporters from different parts of West Bengal, leading to large gatherings and vehicle movement in central Kolkata.

To manage the situation, traffic will be regulated on several key roads, including Esplanade Ramp, K.P. Road, Hospital Road, Lovers Lane, Casuarina Avenue and Queensway. Police officials said vehicles may be diverted depending on crowd movement and security requirements.

The advisory also states that parking will be completely prohibited in areas surrounding Victoria Memorial Hall, including Hastings Crossing on AJC Bose Road, Cathedral Road, Kidderpore Road, Hospital Road, Queensway, Casuarina Avenue and Lovers Lane.

In addition, temporary traffic stoppages may be enforced along routes used by VVIP convoys and political processions travelling to the rally venue. These closures may occur intermittently between 4:00 AM and 8:00 PM depending on the movement of dignitaries and participants.

Kolkata Police also warned that tram services could be suspended temporarily in certain sections if required for security and traffic management.

Officials have urged residents and commuters to plan their travel accordingly and follow the regular traffic regulations that remain in force across the city.

With thousands expected to attend the high-profile rally and extensive security arrangements in place, authorities are advising people to remain cautious and allow extra travel time while moving through central Kolkata on Saturday.
