What began as a peaceful protest by jobless teachers demanding reinstatement turned into a horrifying scene on Thursday afternoon. The calm at the gates of Bikash Bhavan was shattered when police suddenly intervened, triggering a violent crackdown with lathi charges and scuffles, turning the area into a battlefield.
According to eyewitnesses, the police unexpectedly arrived with sirens blaring and charged at the protesters without any prior warning. “We were sitting peacefully,” said one protester. “Suddenly, the police started hitting us. One person’s leg is broken, another is bleeding from his arm. Several had their clothes torn, and even female teachers were assaulted by male officers.”
🚨 Two Teachers Reported to Be in Critical Condition, Medical Team Reaches Protest Site
In a disturbing scene captured on camera, an injured protester was seen being splashed with water to regain consciousness. One teacher stated, “Four policemen beat him so badly, he could have died. There was no one to take him to the hospital. Two others are still lying unconscious. We are pouring water on their faces, hoping they’ll wake up. Who knows what will happen.”
At around 10:07 PM, an ambulance and a team of doctors finally arrived at Bikash Bhavan. Two teachers are reportedly in critical condition.
The medical team administered emergency aid. Many teachers received bandages on their hands, legs, and heads, and several reportedly required stitches.
❓ Questions Raised Over Police Brutality on Peaceful Protesters
This incident has once again sparked outrage and raised serious questions: Why were peaceful protestors—especially teachers—met with such excessive force? How could law enforcement justify this level of violence against individuals demanding their right to work? The visuals and testimonials from the scene reflect a troubling pattern of handling civil protests, especially those involving educators.
