CBI Investigates High-Profile Involvement in RG Kar Case, Influential Figures Behind Police Actions

In a new development in the RG Kar Medical College case involving the alleged rape and murder of a doctor on August 9, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has expressed concerns about a larger conspiracy involving influential figures. The CBI is now investigating whether the hospital’s former principal, Sandeep Ghosh, acted under orders from higher authorities to cover up the case.

According to CBI reports, Sandeep Ghosh’s role in the incident is being closely examined, but investigators believe that Ghosh was not the sole decision-maker. They suspect that higher-ranking officials were involved in orchestrating police actions that followed the discovery of the doctor’s body. The post-mortem of the victim was conducted unusually late in the evening, a time normally avoided for such procedures unless approved by senior police officers.

The investigation revealed that a General Diary (GD) was only filed at Tala Police Station at 2:55 PM on August 9, hours after the mutilated body of the doctor was discovered. Strangely, the GD described the deceased as “unconscious” rather than dead, raising suspicions about attempts to downplay the seriousness of the situation. The CBI is now focusing on uncovering the “big players” behind these decisions.

Sandeep Ghosh reportedly did not visit the seminar room, where the body was found, on the day of the incident, a fact that the CBI views as deliberate. Investigators believe that Ghosh’s absence could be part of a larger plan, pointing to evidence that suggests a coordinated effort to prevent a second post-mortem and expedite the cremation of the victim’s body.

CBI officials have highlighted the role of Abhijit Mondal, the former officer-in-charge (OC) of Tala Police Station, who is currently in CBI custody. According to their investigation, Mondal’s mobile records have provided crucial leads about his interactions with senior officials on the night of the incident. The agency is now looking into why the police acted so swiftly to cremate the body despite the victim’s family requesting a second post-mortem.

Additionally, the CBI’s report submitted to the court on Tuesday suggests that Sandeep Ghosh did not file the First Information Report (FIR) following proper legal procedures. The delay in filing the FIR and the rush to cremate the body have raised questions about police involvement and possible pressure from higher authorities.

The CBI has already questioned the former OC of Tala Police Station, Abhijit Mondal, along with the case’s investigating officer and the additional OC. Investigators claim to have gathered important information that could lead to the identification of the influential figures behind the police’s unusual urgency in the case.
