Winter’s Arrival in Bengal: Chilly Mornings and Light Rains Expected in South Bengal

With winter’s approach now noticeable across Bengal, South Bengal residents are waking up to chilly mornings and dry air. Weather reports predict a steady drop in temperatures, particularly around mid-November, as colder winds from the north are expected to set in, bringing a touch of winter chill across the region.

According to the Meteorological Department, scattered light rainfall may affect a few districts in South Bengal, including South 24 Parganas and East Midnapore, though no heavy downpour is expected. Over the next few days, weather conditions across the rest of South Bengal are likely to remain mostly dry, with no major shifts in minimum temperatures expected until November 15th.

On Sunday, a few coastal districts may see light rain, with more focused activity predicted for East Midnapore and the two 24 Parganas districts by the 10th. However, Kolkata is unlikely to see any rainfall or notable changes in the current weather.

Following the 15th of November, a reverse cyclonic circulation could usher in colder winds, further lowering temperatures across the state. South Bengal’s minimum temperature could dip below 20°C, signaling the season’s shift into winter. Meanwhile, in North Bengal, districts like Darjeeling and Kalimpong are expected to experience intermittent rainfall over the coming three days, with temperature drops anticipated in the coming week.
