Weather Forecast for Mahalaya 2024, Rain or Clear Skies?

As the countdown to Durga Puja begins, Mahalaya is just a day away, and everyone is eager to know if rain will disrupt the special day. According to the meteorological department, there’s no need to worry about heavy rainfall, though some areas might experience light showers.

Key Weather Updates for Mahalaya:

  • Cloudy Skies and Light Showers: The weather office has forecasted a partially cloudy sky for Mahalaya. There could be scattered light rain in some areas, but no heavy rain is expected.
  • Temperature and Humidity: Due to intermittent sunshine and moisture in the air, people might feel a bit uncomfortable. The temperature is expected to remain slightly above normal, and the high humidity could cause discomfort.
  • Monsoon Withdrawal: The process of monsoon withdrawal has already started across the country. In West Bengal, monsoon is expected to retreat by mid-October. However, northern districts like Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, and Cooch Behar may experience increased rainfall during this period.
  • Southern Bengal Outlook: From Tuesday onwards, there is a slight possibility of thunderstorms and light showers in some parts of southern Bengal. The chances of rain may increase on Wednesday, but overall, it will be light rain with a few areas seeing moderate rainfall.
  • Northern Bengal and Other Regions: While southern Bengal will see light rain, northern Bengal, especially the hilly regions, may experience more rainfall. For the next few days, temperatures are expected to remain higher than usual. Even if it doesn’t rain, the humidity may cause some discomfort.
  • Eastern India Warning: Heavy rainfall warnings have been issued for some states in the eastern region, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Tripura.
