Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a sharp-yet-subtle jibe at the previous governments, declared at the ABP Network’s India at 2047 summit, “You saved the money, Modi took the blame!” — a remark that drew attention across political and public circles.

Addressing a wide range of national concerns, the PM focused particularly on economic reforms, corruption eradication, and the importance of Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) systems that have reshaped welfare delivery mechanisms in India.

Corruption and the “Missing 85 Paise” Allegation

Referring to the infamous leakage in government schemes under earlier administrations, PM Modi said,
“When the central government sent ₹1, only 15 paise would reach the poor. The rest would disappear mid-way.”

He emphasized that this “leakage culture” was tolerated for years because the governments didn’t change. However, once the BJP came to power, he claimed, the system was overhauled to ensure transparency and accountability.

Revolution through Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT)

One of the key highlights of the PM’s speech was his focus on DBT. He said,
“Our goal was simple – the poor should receive every penny meant for them. Through DBT, we have ensured this. We eliminated 10 crore fake beneficiaries and redirected the rightful money to the poor.”

He added, “This means we saved your money. But has Modi taken that money for himself? No. I’ve just been blamed for ensuring it.”

Banking Sector Reforms Under BJP Rule

The Prime Minister also took a strong stance on the revival of India’s banking system, saying,
“Our banks were heading towards collapse. But today, India’s banking system is one of the strongest globally. We undertook several bold reforms to make this possible.”

Empowering the Poor: Modi’s Core Message

PM Modi reiterated that empowering the underprivileged is at the heart of his governance model. From reservation policies to direct financial aid, he claimed that reforms under his leadership have delivered what earlier governments only promised.
