From the outset of the new season, Imami East Bengal Football Club has been delivering a dismal performance. The team was eliminated from the Durand Cup long before the tournament concluded. Their struggles continued in both the AFC matches and the Indian Super League (ISL), where the Red and Gold brigade has faced defeats in every competition. This alarming situation raised numerous questions about the role of the then-coach, leading to his resignation after the team suffered three consecutive losses in the ISL.

Following the departure of the previous coach, several names emerged as potential replacements, with Oscar Bruzon standing out as the frontrunner. Ultimately, the club appointed Bruzon as the head coach, putting an end to all speculation. After resolving visa issues, the Spanish coach arrived in Kolkata early Saturday morning. He took a brief rest before joining the team, and after a short discussion with the players, he stepped into the dugout during the match.

Despite arriving just hours earlier and overcoming his fatigue, Bruzon found himself unable to turn the team’s fortunes around. East Bengal suffered their fifth consecutive defeat in the ISL, a result that left fans deeply disappointed. Following this loss, the new coach held an extensive meeting with the management to discuss the players’ performance.

Recent reports suggest that Bruzon is keen on making significant changes during the upcoming winter transfer window to revitalize the team. Among the players likely to be affected are captain Clayton Silva and several others, including the Spanish star Saul Crespo, although no final decisions have been confirmed yet.
