Madhya Pradesh BJP minister Vijay Shah has landed in serious controversy over his remarks against Indian Army officer Colonel Sofia Qureshi. The incident took place during an event in Ramkund, Indore, where the minister made a statement that triggered a national outrage.

During his speech, Shah said:
“They (terrorists) wiped the vermillion off our sisters’ foreheads. We sent their own sister to destroy them. We finished them (Aisi ki taisi kar diya). We sent their sister and destroyed them.”

This statement, seen as targeting Colonel Sofia Qureshi on religious grounds, sparked widespread condemnation. Many questioned whether it was appropriate or ethical to refer to an Army officer using such communal overtones.

🔹 Public Apology by Vijay Shah:
Facing severe backlash, Shah was forced to issue a public apology. He clarified:
“Our sister Sofia has risen above caste and religion to bring pride to the nation. I salute her. I cannot even think of insulting her. But if my words have hurt anyone, I apologize ten times over.”


🔹 FIR Filed Following High Court Order, Minister Seeks Relief from SC:
On Wednesday, the Madhya Pradesh High Court directed that an FIR be filed against Vijay Shah for his controversial remarks. Acting on this, a formal complaint was lodged later that night.

Now, Shah has moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s order, seeking legal relief.
