Udhayanidhi Stalin Appointed Deputy Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu, Senthil Balaji Returns as Minister
In a major reshuffle within Tamil Nadu’s DMK government, Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, has been elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister. This significant cabinet revamp marks Udhayanidhi’s rise as a third-generation leader in the state’s political hierarchy, following in the footsteps of his grandfather M Karunanidhi and father MK Stalin.
Although Udhayanidhi, 46, did not take an oath during today’s ceremony, as he was already serving as a minister, his elevation to the number two position in the state government is seen as a strategic move that strengthens his role in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
The reshuffle also reinstated DMK leader Senthil Balaji, who spent 15 months in jail in connection with a money laundering case. After the Supreme Court granted him bail, Balaji was sworn in again as a minister during today’s event held at Raj Bhavan. His return to the cabinet is viewed as a significant development, underscoring his continued influence within the DMK.
In addition to Balaji, three more MLAs – Govi Chezhian, SM Nasar, and KS Masthan – took the oath of office today, further diversifying MK Stalin’s team. This reshuffle comes at a crucial time, reflecting the party’s strategy to strengthen its leadership and broaden its administrative reach.
During the swearing-in ceremony, Udhayanidhi Stalin was seen congratulating the newly appointed ministers, marking his growing influence within the Tamil Nadu government. His rise to the Deputy Chief Minister’s post is a continuation of the family’s strong political legacy, with Karunanidhi, MK Stalin, and now Udhayanidhi all playing key roles in shaping Tamil Nadu’s governance.
The cabinet rejig is seen as a balancing act, aiming to both consolidate power and reward loyalty within the DMK ranks. As Udhayanidhi Stalin steps into this pivotal role, his political trajectory will be closely watched as he takes on increased responsibilities within the state’s leadership.
With Senthil Balaji’s reappointment and Udhayanidhi’s promotion, the DMK government under MK Stalin appears focused on maintaining its stronghold in Tamil Nadu while preparing for future electoral challenges.
This reshuffle not only reinforces the leadership within the DMK but also sets the stage for Udhayanidhi Stalin to play a more prominent role in the state’s political dynamics, positioning him as a key figure in the next generation of Tamil Nadu politics.
