“Speak for Us in Parliament!” Jobless Teachers Set ‘Home Task’ for TMC and BJP, Warn of Nabanna March
The protesting teachers, who lost their jobs due to the recruitment scam, vow to continue their apolitical movement and challenge both ruling and opposition parties to raise their issue in Parliament and support them before the President.

The movement by jobless teachers in West Bengal—disqualified over alleged recruitment irregularities—is gathering fresh momentum. On Sunday, from outside Bikash Bhavan, protestors issued a stern warning: their agitation will remain politically neutral, but it will not stop. If needed, they will launch a Nabanna March.

They also issued a “home task” for both the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP): write to the President of India and raise the matter in the upcoming parliamentary session.

🗣️ “Raise Our Voices in Parliament!”

One of the protest leaders, Mehboob Mondal, declared: “Our movement belongs to no political party. TMC and BJP must both write to the President, stating that injustice has been done to qualified candidates. You must speak for us in Parliament. If you do, we’ll give you credit.”

👮 Legal Notice to 17 Teachers: Police Action Under New Law

Following a scuffle on Thursday between police and protestors, a case was filed at Bidhannagar North Police Station on Friday under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS)—the newly implemented Indian criminal code.

Now, 17 protesting teachers have received legal summons. According to the notice, they allegedly vandalized public property and obstructed government work. They have been asked to appear at the police station on Wednesday, May 21 at 11 AM. If they fail to comply, police may arrest them under BNS Section 35(6).
