🌐 Why is it raining now?

Meteorologists attribute the change in weather to multiple systems:

A new western disturbance is approaching northwestern India from April 16.
One trough line stretches from Rajasthan to the Gulf of Mannar, crossing through Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka, and Tamil Nadu.
Another trough extends from Madhya Pradesh to Bangladesh, passing over Jharkhand, impacting the weather in West Bengal.

☁️ What’s the forecast for the rest of the week?

On Wednesday, rainfall is expected to reduce slightly in South Bengal with a low chance of thunderstorms.
However, Thursday and Friday may see renewed rainfall and strong winds (30–50 km/h) in many districts.

🌄 What about North Bengal?

From Wednesday, almost all North Bengal districts, including Darjeeling, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Malda, and Cooch Behar, may see moderate thunderstorms with gusty winds (30–40 km/h).

⚠️ Heavy Rain Alerts in Other States:

The IMD has also issued warnings for Odisha, Assam, and Meghalaya, predicting heavy to very heavy rain, and in some areas, hailstorms with wind speeds up to 50 km/h.

🌡️ Will temperatures drop?

While rainfall may bring temporary relief from the heat, the temperature is unlikely to drop significantly.
Once the sun returns, humid heat or “byapsha gorom” will make a quick comeback.
