Rain Alert in South Bengal: Heavy Showers Expected Across Districts Today!

South Bengal to Experience Continuous Rain Until Friday, Light Showers Expected Even on Kali Puja Day in Kolkata

South Bengal witnessed bright sunlight this morning, although the lower humidity has brought some relief from the usual discomfort. With Kali Puja just days away, the season of dry weather usually begins around this time in Bengal. However, despite cyclone ‘Dana’ moving away, rain continues to be in the forecast. The weather department has predicted consistent rainfall across various districts of South Bengal throughout this week.

Rain Forecast for South Bengal Today

According to the weather office, Monday brings light to moderate rainfall in various South Bengal districts, including Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, East and West Midnapore, Jhargram, Purulia, Bankura, East and West Burdwan, Birbhum, Murshidabad, and certain areas of Nadia. There are no alerts for any specific district, and heavy rainfall is not expected. Meanwhile, North Bengal will mostly experience dry conditions, with light rain expected only in Darjeeling and Kalimpong.

Continuous Rain Forecast Until Friday

From Monday to Friday, almost every district in South Bengal is likely to experience light to moderate rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms. This includes light rainfall in Kolkata on Thursday, coinciding with Kali Puja celebrations. Kolkata’s maximum temperature today is expected to be around 32°C, and similar light showers are expected on Friday as well. The possibility of rain lingering through the end of the month cannot be ruled out, though no significant disruptions due to heavy rain are anticipated.

Precautions and Weather Advisory

While no heavy rain alert has been issued, the meteorological department advises caution during thunderstorms and light rains. For residents preparing for Kali Puja, staying updated on the weather forecast would be wise to plan outdoor activities accordingly.

The weather in South Bengal is set to change as rain showers are expected across districts in the coming days, affecting everyday routines in some regions. Although heavy rain isn’t expected, residents should remain cautious and be prepared for light showers, especially during the Kali Puja festivities in Kolkata.
