🔥 South Bengal: Heatwave + Storms Combo
Over the past week, most districts of South Bengal, including Kolkata, have been experiencing soaring temperatures. On Monday, temperatures in Dum Dum and Salt Lake crossed the 40°C mark. According to the weather office:
“Dry westerly winds and hot air blowing from the northwest are creating heatwave-like conditions across South Bengal.”
Some areas did receive isolated rainfall on Monday night, offering temporary relief. But heat is expected to persist through the day on Tuesday.

In contrast, North Bengal is expected to see intense monsoon-like activity. As per the latest forecast, several districts will experience heavy to very heavy rain (7–20 cm) over the next four days.
