Today marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation and a beacon of non-violence. On this special day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to ‘Bapu’ by offering floral respects at his memorial in Rajghat, New Delhi. Simultaneously, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee honored Gandhi’s legacy, sharing a message that highlighted the significance of his teachings on non-violence.
In his tribute on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi wrote, “On behalf of all countrymen, heartfelt salutations to Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and principles, rooted in truth, harmony, and equality, will always inspire the nation.” The Prime Minister also participated in a cleanliness drive with schoolchildren to commemorate the day. Additionally, today marks the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister. Paying homage to Shastri, Modi wrote, “Lal Bahadur Shastri dedicated his life to the nation’s soldiers and farmers. On his birth anniversary, I offer my humble respects.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also shared her respects for Mahatma Gandhi on X, emphasizing his message of non-violence.
