Man Loses 5.6 Million Taka by Liking YouTube Videos: Stay Alert!
As cybercrime continues to escalate, ordinary individuals are increasingly falling victim to various scams. Many people find themselves facing significant losses before they realize they have been duped. Criminals are adopting new tactics, exploiting popular platforms like WhatsApp and YouTube for their schemes.
Recently, a shocking incident has come to light involving a man who lost over 5.6 million Taka under the pretense of liking YouTube videos. This scam promised part-time job opportunities in exchange for social media engagement, luring victims into the trap set by hackers.
In this particular case, the victim, a shopkeeper, initially received small payments of 123 Taka and 492 Taka for his work on YouTube. Encouraged by these returns, he was eventually drawn into a Telegram group where he was promised commissions in exchange for depositing money. Unaware of the deception, the shopkeeper invested a staggering 5.67 million Taka. Subsequently, the scammers cut off all communication, leaving him to realize he had been defrauded.
To help others avoid falling into similar traps, here are seven essential tips to recognize and prevent such online scams:
