YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, arrested on charges of espionage, is now at the center of a high-profile investigation involving the Pakistan High Commission. Delhi Police and central intelligence agencies are probing her alleged ties with Pakistani diplomat Ehsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, and whether sensitive information was passed on through this connection.
📸 Iftar Party Video Raises Red Flags
An Iftar party video from 2023, hosted by the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi, has come under the scanner. In this video, Jyoti can be seen interacting warmly with Danish, suggesting a relationship that may have developed before the event. She had uploaded the 15-minute video on her YouTube channel ‘Travel with Jo’, where she stated she had been “specially invited by the Pakistan High Commission.”
The video captures:
Danish introducing Jyoti as a popular YouTuber and vlogger,
A conversation between Jyoti and Danish’s wife,
Jyoti expressing her interest in visiting Pakistan,
A friendly conversation about Pakistan’s National Day,
Danish thanking Jyoti for attending the event.
Investigators believe this interaction shows signs of prior familiarity and may indicate that the Iftar party wasn’t their first contact.
🕵️♂️ Alleged Espionage Link
Sources say Danish, now declared persona non grata by India, allegedly acted as a bridge between Jyoti and Pakistani intelligence officers. Authorities believe the YouTuber may have been used to gather and leak classified information to Pakistani handlers.
📅 First Visit to Pakistan in 2023
Jyoti reportedly visited Pakistan in 2023, which coincides with the time she is believed to have grown close to Danish. The exact nature of their relationship and whether any classified Indian information was exchanged remains under active investigation.
🚨 Arrest and Custody
On Saturday, Jyoti was formally arrested and charged with espionage and sharing sensitive information. She has been remanded to five days of police custody for further interrogation.
🔍 Key Video Evidence
In the now-viral Iftar video, Jyoti is seen saying:
“I am extremely happy to be here and to meet him (Danish).”
She is then introduced as:
“This is Jyoti, a YouTuber and vlogger. Her channel, Travel with Jo, has over 100,000 subscribers,” Danish announces.
The video ends with both of them exchanging pleasantries, a moment investigators now believe may hold critical relevance to the espionage case.
