Israel Launches Fresh Strikes on Iran: Top Generals, Nuclear Scientists Killed in Tehran Attacks
Israeli airstrikes hit Tehran and military bases; Iran confirms death of top military leaders including Major General Mohammad Bagheri and six nuclear scientists. Khamenei vows "severe punishment".

Tehran/New York: The conflict between Iran and Israel escalated dramatically on Friday as Israeli forces launched fresh waves of airstrikes targeting key Iranian infrastructure including nuclear facilities and military bases.

According to BBC reports, the latest attacks began Friday night, shortly after an earlier wave of strikes that targeted Iran’s military zones and nuclear centers. The Iranian government has officially acknowledged the attacks, confirming widespread damage and several high-profile casualties.

Sources from Iran’s state-run IRNA reported that among the dead are Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Iran’s Chief of Armed Forces, and General Hossein Salami, the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). Also killed was Deputy Commander General Gholam Ali Rashid.

In addition to military casualties, the strikes also claimed the lives of six prominent nuclear scientists, including Fereydoon Abbasi, the former head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization. Several residential areas in Tehran were also reportedly hit in the aerial attacks.

In response, Iran activated its air defense systems and issued a stern warning to Israel. Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei released a statement vowing “severe punishment” for what he described as a cowardly act of aggression.

Tensions heightened further when former U.S. President Donald Trump posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, stating:

“We gave Iran several opportunities to comply with the nuclear deal. Maybe they tried, maybe they even came close. But in the end, it didn’t happen. I warned them — things could get worse than they think.”

Trump’s statement has fueled speculation that the U.S. may be indirectly supporting the Israeli offensive, a claim that is already stirring global diplomatic debates.
