The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) declared the Class 10 and 12 board exam results on Tuesday afternoon, with both sets of results published within an hour of each other. The pass percentage saw a notable rise this year—94.93% for Class 10 and 89.16% for Class 12 in West Bengal.
Although CBSE did not release an official merit list, several students from Kolkata scored above 99%, marking them among the state’s brightest achievers. Here’s a closer look at the six standout performers:
🎓 Class 10 Toppers: Ayanesh, Trisha & Ritajit
Ayanesh Bandyopadhyay from Delhi Public School, Ruby Park scored an impressive 99.6%. His father runs a business, and his mother is a homemaker. With minimal reliance on private tutors (only math tutoring before the board exams), Ayanesh’s success stems from self-study and dedication. He dreams of conducting research in biology or physics, and is also passionate about cricket, football, and chess.
Trisha Ghosh from Narayan School, Kalyani also scored 99.6%. A fan of movies, web series, and animation, she aspires to study engineering.
Ritajit Adhikari, a student of BD Memorial Institute, scored 99.4%. His father is a math teacher and his mother teaches social science in a government school. Except for English, he studied all subjects on his own with guidance from his parents. Passionate about mathematics, Ritajit hopes to pursue research in mathematics or statistics at the Indian Statistical Institute (ISI) or Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI).
📈 Class 12 Toppers: Arnab, Mitansh & Aparajita
Arnab Poddar and Mitansh Agarwal, both Commerce stream students from Delhi Public School, Ruby Park, scored 99% each. Both are interested in economics:
Arnab dreams of becoming an investment banker.
Mitansh aspires to be an actuary, a profession that applies mathematical and statistical skills to financial risk management.
Their mothers are homemakers, while Arnab’s father is a businessman and Mitansh’s father works in the private sector. Both emphasized the importance of consistent study for 5–6 hours daily throughout the year, not just during exam time. Outside academics, they also enjoy sports.
Aparajita Saha, a student of the Humanities stream from Bhavan’s Gangabux Kanoria Vidyamandir, scored 99.4%. With no private tutors, Aparajita followed a disciplined study routine. She enjoys dancing, singing, and painting. Passionate about political science, she aspires to become a political analyst and writer.
📅 CBSE Exam Timeline & Gender Performance
The Class 10 exams were conducted from February 15 to March 18, while Class 12 exams ran until April 4. Notably, female students outperformed male students in both exams this year, continuing a positive trend in academic performance.
