Acute Pancreatitis
Gastrointestinal Sepsis
Doctors say both are serious, life-threatening illnesses. He is currently on low-flow oxygen support, with a multi-disciplinary medical team monitoring him closely.
Airlift Strategy and Central Involvement
Sources indicate that the BJP, in consultation with doctors and the central government, is planning an airlift to Delhi.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has already contacted his family and extended all support.
Latest Medical Update
No deterioration in the last 24 hours, but no improvement either.
ICU monitoring continues due to high risk.
Doctors have hinted at the need for long-term specialist care, which could be better provided at AIIMS.
Before joining the BJP ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Abhijit Gangopadhyay retired from his post as a judge and contested from Tamluk, winning the seat and becoming an MP. He is known for delivering landmark rulings while in the judiciary. Senior BJP leaders including Suvendu Adhikari and Dilip Ghosh have visited the hospital to check on his condition.
