A video circulating online shows the aircraft’s tail dipping dangerously before crashing to the ground—though the authenticity of the footage has not yet been verified by authorities. The aircraft reportedly crashed within the airport premises, directly impacting a residential hostel belonging to BJ Medical College, located in the Meghaninagar area.
Locals reported that the hostel housed nearly 50 medical interns and doctors. According to hospital sources, five doctors lost their lives in the crash. Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu, who visited the crash site on Thursday evening, initially stated that no one had survived the crash. However, shortly afterward, ANI quoted the Ahmedabad CP confirming that one person survived the tragedy.
As per Reuters, at least 100 bodies have already been recovered and brought to a city hospital. Authorities fear the death toll may rise due to the plane crashing in a populated urban area.
The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has begun a thorough investigation into the crash. Meanwhile, the story of Vishwakumar Ramesh’s survival has captured national attention, offering a rare glimmer of hope amid a sea of sorrow.
