Udhayanidhi Stalin Appointed Deputy Chief Minister in Tamil Nadu, Senthil Balaji Returns as Minister
In a major reshuffle within Tamil Nadu’s DMK government, Udhayanidhi Stalin, son of Chief Minister MK Stalin, has been elevated to the position of Deputy Chief Minister. This significant cabinet revamp marks Udhayanidhi’s rise as a third-generation leader in the state’s political hierarchy, following in the footsteps of his grandfather M Karunanidhi and father MK Stalin.
Although Udhayanidhi, 46, did not take an oath during today’s ceremony, as he was already serving as a minister, his elevation to the number two position in the state government is seen as a strategic move that strengthens his role in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
The reshuffle also reinstated DMK leader Senthil Balaji, who spent 15 months in jail in connection with a money laundering case. After the Supreme Court granted him bail, Balaji was sworn in again as a minister during today’s event held at Raj Bhavan. His return to the cabinet is viewed as a significant development, underscoring his continued influence within the DMK.
In addition to Balaji, three more MLAs – Govi Chezhian, SM Nasar, and KS Masthan – took the oath of office today, further diversifying MK Stalin’s team. This reshuffle comes at a crucial time, reflecting the party’s strategy to strengthen its leadership and broaden its administrative reach.
