A wave of personal grief and social concern swept over BJP leader Dilip Ghosh as he spoke out on Wednesday about the untimely death of his stepson, Srinjay Majumdar. The young man, who was the son of Ghosh’s newlywed wife Rinku Majumdar from her previous marriage, died under mysterious circumstances on Tuesday.
Though they were related for only a short time—just 26 days after Ghosh’s marriage—Srinjay had become close to the senior BJP leader. The two had reportedly bonded well, spending time together and even watching sports matches. His sudden demise has left Ghosh shaken.
Speaking to reporters, Dilip Ghosh said,
“This is a clear example of the extent to which addiction has taken over today’s youth. It’s a major concern.”
“I never experienced the joy of fatherhood—only grief.”
Srinjay’s Death Linked to Addiction, Health Issues
Family sources revealed that Srinjay was battling drug addiction and had multiple health complications. His death is suspected to be the result of a fatal combination of substance abuse and medical issues. Ghosh, clearly emotional, called the incident a wake-up call for families and society at large.
He added:
“This should be a lesson for all of us. Just giving kids an education isn’t enough. We have to pay close attention to where they go, what they do, and who they associate with. The danger is always there.”
A Caution to Parents, A Cry for Change
Through this tragic event, Dilip Ghosh issued a stern message to parents, urging them to be more involved and aware of their children’s habits and peer groups. His words reflect a growing concern in India about rising drug use among young people, especially in urban and semi-urban regions.
Though brief, Srinjay’s relationship with Ghosh had grown strong, and the BJP leader’s grief was visibly heartfelt.
