Forensic Report Raises Doubts—Is Shariful Truly Guilty or a Victim of Misidentification?
In a shocking revelation that could turn the ongoing Saif Ali Khan assault case on its head, the Mumbai Police’s latest chargesheet has stated that 19 out of 20 fingerprint samples collected from the crime scene do not match the main accused, Shariful Islam. The only matching print was reportedly found in one specific room of the actor’s apartment, casting doubt over Shariful’s direct involvement.
🔍 Forensic Report Uncovers Major Inconsistencies
According to the forensic findings, fingerprints were lifted from various locations in the actor’s apartment—bathroom handles, wardrobe knobs, and door handles. These samples were sent to the CID Fingerprint Bureau for analysis. Shockingly, only one fingerprint matched Shariful’s, while the remaining 19 did not.

🧪 Police Explain the Mismatch
Despite this discrepancy, Mumbai Police maintains that such inconsistencies are common in investigations. Their explanation? Subsequent handling by others may have overlapped or erased Shariful’s original prints. The police argue that this doesn’t rule out his presence, especially since a confirmed match was found in the eighth-floor room.
🧾 Charges of Illegal Money Transfers Added
In addition to attempted assault charges, the 1,000-page chargesheet accuses Shariful of illegally transferring money to Bangladesh through an acquaintance. His assistant, Amit Pandya, reportedly helped him send money to Abdullah Alim, his relative, using a bank account in Bengaluru.
📑 111 Witnesses, 48 Statements Recorded
The chargesheet, filed in Mumbai’s Bandra Metropolitan Court on April 8 and made public recently, reveals that police recorded statements from 48 people out of 111 witnesses. It also states that after allegedly stabbing Saif, 30-year-old Shariful Islam spent nearly an hour inside the actor’s apartment before moving to a nearby building.
❓ Key Question Emerges: Is Shariful Innocent?
The fingerprint mismatch has sparked fresh speculation on social media and legal circles—could Shariful be innocent, or is this part of a deeper conspiracy? While police remain confident in their case, this forensic twist introduces a significant layer of doubt that could alter the course of the investigation.
