The conflict between Iran and Israel has reached a critical point, causing concerns of potential warfare across neighboring countries in the Middle East. Experts warn that if the conflict intensifies, it could have severe negative impacts on the global socio-economic landscape. In light of the escalating situation, Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar voiced India’s concerns on Tuesday, indicating that Delhi may engage in peace efforts through diplomacy and dialogue.

Currently on a visit to Washington, Jaishankar addressed the situation in an interaction, saying, “In difficult times, the importance of communication and relationships cannot be understated. If there is anything we can contribute, we are willing to do so.” He further emphasized India’s concerns about the ongoing conflict not only between Israel and Iran but also regarding Lebanon, the Houthis, and the Red Sea region.

Jaishankar also expressed strong opinions on the violation of humanitarian laws and attacks on civilians during wartime. He stated, “We believe the October 7 attack was an act of terrorism. We understand that Israel needed to respond, but we also believe that any country’s response must be in accordance with international humanitarian laws. We must ensure that civilians are not harmed, and international efforts should focus on this.”

The conflict escalated further on Tuesday when Iran launched nearly 400 missiles into Israel in retaliation for the death of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah. Reports also emerged of armed militant attacks in Tel Aviv. In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Iran that they would pay for their “mistake.” The United States has also expressed its unwavering support for Israel, further intensifying tensions in the region.

As the situation in the Middle East deteriorates, India has issued a travel advisory for its citizens. The advisory urges Indians to avoid traveling to Iran amid the current conflict and advises those already in Iran to exercise caution. Indian nationals in Iran have been instructed to stay in contact with the Indian Embassy in Tehran for further updates and safety measures.

With the flames of war rising in the Middle East, global concern continues to grow, and nations like India are taking steps to ensure the safety of their citizens while advocating for a peaceful resolution through diplomatic channels.
