Modi Pays Tribute to ‘Bapu’ on Gandhi Jayanti, Mamata Emphasizes Message of Non-Violence

Today marks the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation and a beacon of non-violence. On this special day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to ‘Bapu’ by offering floral respects at his memorial in Rajghat, New Delhi. Simultaneously, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee honored Gandhi’s legacy, sharing a message that highlighted the significance of his teachings on non-violence.

In his tribute on X (formerly Twitter), Prime Minister Modi wrote, “On behalf of all countrymen, heartfelt salutations to Bapu on his birth anniversary. His life and principles, rooted in truth, harmony, and equality, will always inspire the nation.” The Prime Minister also participated in a cleanliness drive with schoolchildren to commemorate the day. Additionally, today marks the birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister. Paying homage to Shastri, Modi wrote, “Lal Bahadur Shastri dedicated his life to the nation’s soldiers and farmers. On his birth anniversary, I offer my humble respects.”

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee also shared her respects for Mahatma Gandhi on X, emphasizing his message of non-violence. She wrote, “On Gandhi Jayanti, I pay my respects to the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi. His teachings of non-violence, honesty, and unity guide us all. We must follow the path he envisioned for the nation, and may we all embrace his values of non-violence and tolerance. Jai Hind!”

Both leaders’ tributes on Gandhi Jayanti serve as a reminder of the lasting impact of Mahatma Gandhi’s teachings and the enduring relevance of his philosophy of non-violence in shaping the future of the nation.
