The Regional Meteorological Centre in Alipore has forecast scattered rain and gusty winds across Kolkata and several districts of South Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has also indicated a notable dip in temperature over the coming days. Some parts of Kolkata and its surrounding areas experienced light rainfall on Thursday night, and the current weather pattern is expected to continue till Monday.
💨 Weather Update for Kolkata & South Bengal: Rain with Wind Speeds Up to 40 km/h
According to the latest forecast, Kolkata, Howrah, Hooghly, North and South 24 Parganas, and East Midnapore will likely experience scattered rain accompanied by gusty winds blowing at speeds of 30 to 40 km/h.
In the remaining districts, wind speeds may reach up to 40 to 50 km/h.
This pattern is expected to persist through Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a slight decline in intensity on Monday.
Though no significant change in temperature is expected in the next two days, a drop of 2–3°C is likely over the following three days across South Bengal districts.
🌧️ Heavy Rain Alert for North Bengal: Yellow Warning Issued
The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Alipurduar, Cooch Behar, and North Dinajpur, forecasting heavy rainfall over the next four days.
These areas could receive 7–11 cm of rain, accompanied by gusty winds at 30–40 km/h in some locations.
South Dinajpur and Malda are also expected to witness scattered rainfall, and a yellow alert has been issued for these districts as well.
Temperatures across North Bengal are likely to drop by 2–3°C in the next three days, according to the weather department.
