West Bengal braces for three consecutive days of thunderstorms and rainfall due to the formation of two weather troughs over the region. The Alipore Meteorological Department has predicted temporary relief from the ongoing heatwave as moist winds from the Bay of Bengal create favorable conditions for rain and thunderstorms.
As per the weather office, one trough extends from Sikkim to North Odisha, passing through Jharkhand and West Bengal. Another trough stretches from Madhya Pradesh to Gangetic West Bengal, crossing through Chhattisgarh and Jharkhand. These systems are drawing moisture-laden air inland, significantly increasing the chances of Kalbaisakhi-like weather events.
