CPI(M) Leader Minakshi Mukherjee Assists CBI in Doctor's Murder and Rape Case Investigation

Minakshi Mukherjee questioned for two hours by CBI in connection with the RG Kar Medical College doctor’s murder and rape case, expresses willingness to cooperate further.

CPI(M) leader Minakshi Mukherjee was questioned by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the horrific murder and rape of a doctor at RG Kar Medical College. Minakshi, a prominent face in the protest for justice in this case, was summoned to the CBI office in Kolkata’s CGO Complex on Thursday morning. She was interrogated for approximately two hours.

After the session, Minakshi addressed the media and expressed her willingness to fully cooperate with the investigation. “I came here to assist in the investigation. If they call me again, I will return. We all want justice for the victim,” she stated.

Although Minakshi did not disclose the exact allegations that led to her summoning, she reiterated that her involvement in the case was driven by a desire for justice. “The entire country, including our state, demands justice for this brutal crime. A doctor being murdered in her own hospital is something no one should stay silent about,” she added.

Minakshi Mukherjee has been at the forefront of the movement seeking justice for the victim since the tragedy occurred on August 9, 2024. On that day, a female doctor at RG Kar Medical College was found raped and murdered. Minakshi’s strong stance, including her action of preventing the police from cremating the victim’s body hastily, drew widespread attention. Images and videos of her stopping police vehicles went viral on social media, further fueling the public outcry.

The CBI’s involvement in the investigation is crucial as it examines the claims of a possible exploitative environment and the demands for accountability from those responsible. Minakshi, who has been leading the protests, assured that the fight for justice would continue both through legal channels and street protests, encouraging the public to remain active in the cause.

With Minakshi’s cooperation in the investigation, the probe into this heinous crime continues to draw public attention, with the focus on ensuring that those responsible are brought to justice.
