Trinamool Congress (TMC) National General Secretary Abhishek Banerjee has successfully undergone his eighth eye surgery. On Monday, Abhishek posted a picture of his blood-clotted eye on X (formerly Twitter), thanking everyone for their well-wishes and informing them about the successful surgery, which took place in the United States earlier this month.
Abhishek wrote, “I would like to sincerely thank everyone for their kind wishes after my recent eye surgery. Since my road accident in 2016, I have continuously faced vision problems. This marks the eighth surgery on my eye, and I am happy to report that everything went well this time. To ensure full recovery and restoration of my vision, I need to follow some post-operative guidelines and precautions. I remain hopeful and deeply grateful for all your love, concern, and kind wishes.”
The 2016 Accident and its Impact:
Abhishek Banerjee’s eye problems began after a severe car accident on October 19, 2016. The incident occurred near Singur on the Durgapur Expressway while he was returning from a party program in Murshidabad. He suffered a serious injury to his left eye, which led to a series of surgeries at Johns Hopkins Hospital in the US.
Earlier this year, a source within the TMC revealed that Banerjee had developed a blood clot in his eye due to prolonged use of contact lenses. This month, a nearly seven-hour-long surgery was conducted in the US to address the issue. The operation was reportedly complex but successful, marking the eighth time he has undergone surgery on the affected eye.
Post-Operative Guidelines and Recovery:
Following the surgery, Abhishek Banerjee has been advised to adhere to strict post-operative guidelines to ensure a full recovery. His doctors have instructed him to take extra care of his eye to avoid further complications and ensure complete restoration of his vision. Banerjee expressed his gratitude for the support and good wishes he received during this challenging time.
The TMC leader’s recovery is eagerly awaited by his supporters and colleagues, who hope to see him return to active political life soon.
